Free Epilepsy Detection & Treatment Camp-2
Venue - Civil Hospital, Ratnagiri, Maharashtra

The Free Epilepsy detection & treatment camp was organized by Epilepsy Foundation of India in association with the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM).
The camp was inaugurated at 10.00am with an orientation lecture by Dr. Nirmal Surya (Founder Trustee & Chairman, Epilepsy Foundation)
The entire team of Neurologists was brought in from Mumbai.
A total number of 225 Patients suffering from Epilepsy were seen by the neurologist, the
Patients have come for all over the city & villages around as far as 150km to 200km.
Many students from different schools around Ratnagiri & the neighboring areas accompanied by their teachers & caregivers who were suffering from Epilepsy, came for proper diagnosis, treatment & guidance.
Every Patient’s data was recorded for future reference. An EEG room was set up with 3 EEG Machines & total 62 Patient’s done by 4 Technician. CT Scan department was kept open at civil hospital & total of 18 CT scan head were done.
A Team of 2 clinical Psychologist & 2 Physiotherapist, 2 Speech Therapist & 2 Occupation Therapist from Mumbai were also present to evaluate & educate the Patients & their relatives about the disease and its management. Total 105 Patients were treated by them.
Three months free epilepsy medicine were given to all patients, 130 patients were given by epilepsy foundation through various Pharma Company and rest by Govt. of Maharashtra through NRHM
There was a street play organized by the Epilepsy foundation under the supervision of Dr.Nirmal Surya for the awareness of Epilepsy which helped to give a clear view to the Patients & their caregivers about the myths & facts surrounding Epilepsy. The street play was done in the civil hospital, Ratnagiri & the near by Railway station, ST Stand & 2 more places.
The Camp ended at 6.00pm & the team departed back to Mumbai.
