Epilepsy foundation India celebrates Christmas with Patients at Free Clinic

Christmas, the festival of joy on 25^th December 2012 this year was celebrated in a unique way by the team at Epilepsy Foundation. Christmas this year was on Tuesday, which is the day when we conduct “free epilepsy clinic”

However, even though it was a holiday, we went ahead with the free clinic since it would not be Christmas for our patients if they were not treated on time or given their medications.So we decided to celebrate Christmas with the patients this year and share the happiness and joy together.

 Along with regular check up and counselling of 85 patients, there was a band singing Christmas Carols along with Santa Claus who played with all the children along with giving them chocolates and cold beverages

 A colouring competition was also organised for all the children (patients) with around 35 participants and the Top 3 winners(first prize to  Master Parmar Amir ali , 2nd prize to Mansi Kanoji 3rd prize to Sakshi Sirke), Veena Patil and Ronak Shah  were given special prizes by the Trustee of Epilepsy Foundation Mrs.Seema Surya .

 The children and their parents had a very good time and it was a good feeling for the entire team at Epilepsy Foundation to see the smiles on all the faces of patients and their care givers.

Free Epilepsy Detection and Treatment Camp , Amravati ,21.10.2012

Epilepsy Foundation in Association with National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) conducts regular Monthly Camp in Maharashtra for detection and treatment of epilepsy. The First Camp was held on 08/04/2012 at Jawahar (Thane) & 2^nd Camp at Ratnagiri on 27/05/2012, 3^rd Camp at Satara on 24/06/2012, 4^thCamp at Nashik on 22/07/2012, 5^th Camp at Jalna on 12/08/2012 & 6^th Camp at Usmanabad and we saw 1660 Patients suffering from epilepsy of which 307 underwent EEG testing. 485 pts were treated by the Psychologist, 2 Physiotherapist, 2 Occupation Therapy & 2 Speech Therapy during the camp, 109 pts underwent CT Scan of Brain.

The Camp is highlighted by Free EEG, Free Medication for 3 Months to all patients, Free CT Brain / MRI for needed patients, besides medical checkup, Physiotherapy, Occupation Therapy & Speech Therapy. Metropolis Lab is doing free antiepileptic drug level for all needed Patient.

This Month Camp will be on 21^th Oct, 2012 at Civil Hospital, Amravati.

Dear Sir,

Epilepsy Foundation in Association with National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) conducts regular Monthly Camp in Maharashtra for detection and treatment of epilepsy. The First Camp was held on 08/04/2012 at Jawahar (Thane) & 2^nd Camp at Ratnagiri on 27/05/2012 & 3^rd Camp at Satara on 24/06/2012 we saw 553 Patients suffering from epilepsy of which 130 underwent EEG testing. 222 pts were treated by the Psychologist, Physiotherapist, Occupation Therapy & Speech Therapy during the camp, 43 pts underwent CT Scan of Brain.

The Camp is highlighted by Free EEG, Free Medication for 3 Months to all patients, Free CT Brain / MRI for needed patients, besides medical checkup, Physiotherapy, Occupation Therapy & Speech Therapy. Metropolis Lab is doing free antiepileptic drug level for all needed Patient for the first time.

Free Epilepsy Detection and Treatment Camp, 24.6.12, Civil Hospital, Satara

Epilepsy Foundation in Association with National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) conducts regular Monthly Camp in Maharashtra for detection and treatment of epilepsy. The First Camp was held on 08/04/2012 at Jawahar (Thane) & 2^nd Camp at Ratnagiri on 27/05/2012 & we saw 367 Patients suffering from epilepsy of which 100 underwent EEG testing. 185 pts were counseling by the Psychologist, Physiotherapist, Occupation Therapy & Speech Therapy during the camp. We also did more than 25 pts underwent CT Scan.

Free Epilepsy Detection & Treatment Camp-2

    

Venue - Civil Hospital, Ratnagiri, Maharashtra

Date   - 27^th May, 2012

The Free Epilepsy detection & treatment camp was organized by Epilepsy Foundation of India in association with the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM).

The camp was inaugurated at 10.00am with an orientation lecture by Dr. Nirmal Surya (Founder Trustee & Chairman, Epilepsy Foundation)       

The entire team of Neurologists was brought in from Mumbai.

A total number of 225 Patients suffering from Epilepsy were seen by the neurologist, the  

Patients have come for all over the city & villages around as far as 150km to 200km.

Many students from different schools around Ratnagiri & the neighboring areas accompanied by their teachers & caregivers who were suffering from Epilepsy, came for proper diagnosis, treatment & guidance.

 

Every Patient’s data was recorded for future reference. An EEG room was set up with 3 EEG Machines & total 62 Patient’s done by 4 Technician. CT Scan department was kept open at civil hospital & total of 18 CT scan head were done.

A Team of 2 clinical Psychologist & 2 Physiotherapist, 2 Speech Therapist & 2 Occupation Therapist from Mumbai were also present to evaluate & educate the Patients & their relatives about the disease and its management. Total 105 Patients were treated by them.

Three months free epilepsy medicine were given to all patients, 130 patients were given by epilepsy foundation through various Pharma Company and rest by Govt. of Maharashtra through NRHM

There was a street play organized by the Epilepsy foundation under the supervision of Dr.Nirmal Surya for the awareness of Epilepsy which helped to give a clear view to the Patients & their caregivers about the myths & facts surrounding Epilepsy. The street play was done  in the civil hospital, Ratnagiri & the near by Railway station, ST Stand &  2 more places.

The Camp ended at 6.00pm & the team departed back to Mumbai.
